My First Blog Post

Welcome to the "Blogosphere"... was a recent statement form an online friend when I told her I was going to start blogging for my local paper. Being new to the concept (well new in that I have never written a blog but do have several I enjoy) I am kind of nervous as I start out. I think I have a lot of informative things to share with the masses, lets just hope they want them to be shared!
To start- my name is Dawn B. I am the mother to 3 wonderful kids, Dane-19, Rylee-11 and Noah-7. I am an Early Childhood Education Specialist currently working on my degree in Special Education.   I was born and raised in a tiny town called Fallon Nevada. I met my wonderful husband and after some moving around (Nevada,Michigan,California and back to Michigan) we have settled in the small Island community of Grosse Ile, MI. My husband was raised here on this island- the majority of his family lives here- so it seemed the best plan to move our family here.  We drove from Monterey, CA to Grosse Ile almost 8 years ago. My oldest son was 11, my daughter was 4 and my youngest was 8 months old.  We were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to buy our home , which has been in my husband's family for many years and settle in right away.
I am hoping to spark some interests, debates and thought provoking questions with this, my foray into the "Blogosphere"  I am very into educational advocacy, parenting skills and styles, family life, teaching and the importance of balancing the mommy/wife/friend/teacher/ lifestyle. It's not always easy- and while it does have it's rewards- sometimes the challenges outweigh those rewards. Balance is key- and I work very hard daily to achieve and hold onto that balance. Sometimes a glass of wine and my computer are the only things I want to deal with! I know there are lots of  mommy/wife/friend's out there that agree with me.

Sometimes I can be snarky, and I like that about myself. I don't intentionally try to hurt anyone- but I am also not so serious I can't take what I dish out.  This should be fun! Come hang out with me- and don't forget the wine!
